Oh how time flies! My little vacation is finally over. I have got to get back to work. I am ready to hit the ground running! And so I have! I had to start with a hawk head for my husband's boss who is having it made for his son. Now his son goes to Hardin Valley High and plays football. Loves his school...and they are the hawks. SOOOO...that is why I am making a hawk. So this is my first one and I am really excited. I started the head and within 30 minutes the basic shape is ready....
Then comes shaping the eye and adding a little more details
Now with a little bit of structural details finished....now it needs to have a bust....
Now I am happy with the look of it...now comes the fun part...the feathers. These are placed one by one starting from the bottom going up. I basically sit and pinch off different sized pieces of clay, roll them in my fingers to make a tear shape, flatten completely, then place it on the sculpture. It takes a LONG time!
So that is where I am at right now.I am really in the sculpting mood! So hopefully I will get him finished and baked tonight and ready to paint tomorrow! We shall see!
